Switching between HDMI video sources on a HD/IP matrix distribution network can be easily and elegantly administered in a number of ways.

From a PC

If you’d like to control a HD/IP matrix from a PC, Mediaswitcher, a piece of software designed and built specifically for the HD/IP product will allow you to do this quickly and easily. The software can configure a range of managed Ethernet switches through the use of a wizard and then present you with an on-screen interface to control the HD/IP matrix. It couldn’t be simpler. Mediaswitcher can even be interfaced with via the computers serial port. Allowing you to use another device or control hardware to control Mediaswitcher and therefore the matrix.

Home Automation Controller

If your project makes use of one of the major industry control systems, such as Crestron, Control4, AMX, Netstream and RTI, then setup is equally as easy. We have ready-made drivers for our preferred managed Ethernet switch for the major control systems, making your installation of the HD/IP HDMI network similar to that of other devices in your project.

Custom control system drivers can be built on request and our dealers have already created drivers for use on a number of other platforms such as Android, Elan and Adapt. Demonstrating that with help from our technical team, you can create your own drivers for the system.

InstallerPro Software for Installers

If you chose to use your HD/IP HDMI network in a custom application or make use of your own control software, then InstallerPro is an extremely useful tool. InstallerPro allows you to quickly set up a range of managed switches to be ready for use with HD/IP.

It allows advanced setup of the devices should your application require it, along with tools to help in the setup of the video wall feature in the 2G units. With our own control system drivers, InstallerPro isn’t required to configure your switch to get up and running, but it has a set of features for those operating other parts of the HD/IP 2G’s portfolio.

The Ethernet Managed Switch

In theory any Ethernet managed switch is compatible with HD/IP. As is the number of configurations each of these switches could be setup in. To make things simpler and get installations up and running quickly and easily, we can supply our recommended managed switch. For this switch we have drivers for the major control systems to cover the most common install situations.

If your project falls outside the most common configurations or you wish to use a switch not in our recommended list, does not mean that getting control of the matrix will be difficult. Our technical team are on hand to help you gain the knowledge to create your own control system drivers and our database of drivers grows every day either through professional programmers we employ or our own dealers sharing information.

The HD/IP 2G RS232 Port

HD/IP 2G models now feature 2-way RS232 communication capabilities for control of individual source and display functions, delivering lossless HD video and powerful system control over a single CatX cable.

As well as the HDMI Matrix that’s created by HD/IP, a serial matrix is created with the serial ports. Different types of serial communication can be defined within each HD/IP unit. Allowing control of serial devices located by Display Receivers from Transmitters. Using a Transmitter unit as a “master serial controller” you can gain some powerful global control over many devices.

The RS232 port on the 2G HD/IP Display Receivers can also be used with the Just Add Power IR Manager. The IR Manager has four discrete IR Emitter ports and IR codes can be taught into the IR Manager for each of the ports. Each IR code can be emitted using discrete serial codes sent to the Display Receiver from a Transmitter. The Transmitter serial port can be connected to another piece of control hardware allowing the expansion of a control system through the HD/IP 2G.
